Gentlemen's Choir

This is a performance-oriented course. Students will be instructed in various aspects of choral singing including the mental and physical skills required to sing effectively with attention given to the needs of the young male voice. Other aspects include singing with confidence, good tone quality, technique, sight reading and diction. Opportunities will be available for solo and ensemble participation. Students will be introduced to a repertoire of varied vocal literature including traditional and contemporary styles. The members of this choir will participate in activities outside of school including concerts, solo and ensemble contests, district music contest and other field trips. Rehearsal may be required either before or after school. Each student is responsible for the purchase of the concert attire that includes black slacks, tuxedo shirt, black vest, and bow tie. The cost is around $65. They will be responsible for obtaining black shoes and socks to go with this. If there is a problem with obtaining the concert attire, we will work to make sure each student has the necessary attire. This is a full year class.
